DW-K9860 Automatic Kjeldahl Analyzer is an automatic device integrating distillation and titration functions designed based on classic Kjeldahl nitrogen determination method. It’s equipped with the latest core control system, powerful automatic degree and high-quality components, can easily achieve automatic cleaning of digestion tubes and titration cups, control steam supply and have real-time detection of condensation temperature. FAQ

There is no automatic endpoint detection; judgment relies on color change of boric acid absorbing solution. Continue distilling for 5–10 minutes after the absorbing solution turns from purplish red to blue-green. Lift the condenser tube out of the liquid surface and distill for another 2 minutes to wash residual ammonia on the tube wall and avoid low results. Extend distillation time for samples high in protein and fat.

  1. Inconsistent manual addition of alkali solution in each test, leading to variable ammonia release;
  2. Unstable steam supply due to fluctuating heating flame;
  3. Large human visual error as the titration endpoint is judged by naked eyes;
  4. Loose sealing of digestion tubes, causing minor ammonia escape;
  5. Manual reading deviation of the burette.

Rinse condenser tubes and gas guide tubes repeatedly with distilled water after each test. Soak blocked pipelines in 5% dilute hydrochloric acid to dissolve crystals, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not leave alkali or boric acid solution inside pipelines during test intervals. Drain all liquid from pipelines if the instrument will be stored for a long time.

  1. Replace low-purity sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide and boric acid with guaranteed-grade reagents;
  2. Pre-calcine digestion tubes at high temperature to remove residual nitrogen-containing impurities;
  3. Use ultrapure water for the whole experiment instead of tap water with many impurities;
  4. Fully clean receiving flasks and glassware with acid to eliminate nitrogen residues that interfere with testing.

Use methyl red-bromocresol green mixed indicator. The endpoint is reached when the solution turns stable gray-purple from blue-green without fading within 30 seconds. Shake the absorption flask gently during titration, and add titrant drop by drop slowly near the endpoint. Operate under sufficient light to reduce errors caused by color vision difference.
