Intelligent Disintegrator
The intelligent disintegration apparatus is a laboratory instrument used to test the disintegration time of solid pharmaceutical dosage forms such as tablets and capsules. It consists of a water bath, hanging basket, time control system, and temperature control system. Its core function is to precisely control temperature and lifting motion to ensure repeatable and accurate test results. Drawell’s Intelligent Disintegration Apparatus is widely used by pharmaceutical companies, research laboratories, universities, and regulatory agencies.

Applications of Intelligent Disintegration Apparatus
- Drug testing: Testing the disintegration time of tablets, capsules, pills, and other products.
- Food testing: Detecting heavy metals, additives, and other harmful substances in food to ensure food safety.
- Environmental protection: Analyzing pollutants in water, soil, and air samples to provide data support for environmental monitoring and remediation.
- Disease control: Detecting harmful elements and chemicals in biological samples to support public health and disease prevention.
- Quality supervision: Detecting potential harmful substances in products to ensure product quality and consumer safety.
- Research institutes: Using this technology for sample pretreatment in various scientific research settings to improve experimental efficiency and data accuracy.
How to Operate the Intelligent Disintegrator?
- Preparation: Add an appropriate amount of purified water to the specified mark in the water bath. Add disintegration medium to a beaker and place the beaker in the water bath. Install the basket onto the metal stand.
- Preheating: Connect the power cord and turn on the instrument. Set the desired temperature (usually 37°C) and disintegration time. Start heating and wait for the temperature to stabilize at the set value.
- Place Samples: Take six tablets and place them in the glass tubes of the basket.
- Start the Test: Lower the basket into the medium and activate the timer. The instrument will automatically time and raise and lower the sample.
- Observe and Record: Observe the sample disintegration process. The instrument will sound an alarm when the set time is reached or when all the sample has disintegrated and passed through the sieve. Record the disintegration time or results.
- End the Test: After the test, turn off the motor. Raise the basket and remove the sample residue. Immediately rinse the basket and beaker thoroughly with clean water, rinse with purified water, and dry with a soft cloth. Fill in the instrument usage record.
How to Troubleshoot the Intelligent Disintegrator?
| Fault Phenomenon | Possible Causes | Troubleshooting Steps |
| No Power / Will Not Start | – Power cable is unplugged or loose. – Main power switch is off. – The fuse is blown. | 1. Check and secure the power cable connection. 2. Ensure the main power switch is on. 3. Check and replace the fuse with one of the identical specification. |
| Temperature Display is Abnormal (e.g., shows LLL or HHH) | – Water level in the bath is too low. – Temperature sensor is disconnected or damaged. – Heater failure. | 1. Add purified water to the required level. 2. Check the connection of the temperature sensor. 3. If connections are good, contact technical support for sensor or heater replacement. |
| Temperature Cannot Reach or Stabilize at 37°C | – Heater is failing. – Environmental temperature is too low. – Lid is not closed. | 1. Contact support to check the heater. 2. Ensure the instrument is operated within specified ambient temperatures. 3. Close the transparent lid to maintain temperature. |
| Basket Assembly Does Not Move | – Motor wire is disconnected. – Loose screw in the drive mechanism. – Motor failure. | 1. Power off the instrument and check the motor wire connection. 2. Check and tighten screws on the drive mechanism. 3. Contact technical support for motor inspection. |
| Uneven or No Bubbling from the Aeration System | – Sintered stone (bubbler) is clogged. – Air tube is disconnected or leaking. – Air pump is not working. | 1. Clean or replace the sintered stone. 2. Check all air tubes for connections and leaks. 3. Listen for the pump; if silent, check its power or contact support. |
| Inaccurate or Irreproducible Test Results | – Temperature is miscalibrated. – Sieve mesh is clogged or damaged. – Incorrect disintegration medium. | 1. Perform a temperature calibration. 2. Thoroughly clean or replace the sieve mesh. 3. Prepare a fresh batch of correct medium (e.g., pH, water). |
| Error Messages on the Display | – Software glitch. – Sensor communication failure. – Internal component error. | 1. First step: Power cycle the instrument (turn off, wait 60 seconds, turn on). 2. Note the exact error code/message. 3. Contact technical support with the error info. |
| Water Leakage | – Seal or O-ring is worn out or damaged. – Hose connection is loose. | 1. Identify the source of the leak. 2. Power off and disconnect the instrument. 3. Tighten connections or contact support to replace the seals. |
How to Maintain the Intelligent Disintegrator?
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, immediately rinse the basket and sink thoroughly with purified water to remove any residue, and wipe dry with a soft cloth.
- Regular Replacement: Regularly inspect and replace worn screens, sand blocks (bubble stones), seals, and piping.
- Regular Calibration: Calibrate the temperature sensor and time controller according to the pharmacopoeia and operating procedures, and record the calibration.
- Environmental Requirements: Store in a stable, vibration-free, electromagnetically interference-free, well-ventilated location with an ambient temperature of 5-35°C. Avoid direct sunlight.
- Extended Non-Use: Thoroughly clean and dry all components, disconnect the power cord, and store covered with a dust cover.
