FAQ

Automatic models are equipped with automatic pH/potential end-point recognition, no visual observation required. Setting tips: Use 0.1mol/L hydrochloric acid as titrant, and set the end-point pH between 4.6 and 5.0. For samples high in fat and protein, extend the pre-distillation time by 30 seconds appropriately to prevent ammonia volatilization and low test results.

① Incomplete digestion and carbonization caking of samples; ② Insufficient addition of lye leading to incomplete release of ammonia; ③ Water leakage of condenser tube and insufficient steam pressure; ④ Leakage of burette and invalid concentration of standard acid solution; ⑤ Poor sealing of digestion tube causing ammonia leakage.

Run the acid washing and pure water cleaning procedure after each test. For severe crystal blockages, circulate and flush with 5% dilute hydrochloric acid for 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with pure water. Drain the lye pipeline if the equipment will be idle for a long time to avoid pipeline blockage caused by ammonium sulfate and salt crystals.

High blank values are mostly caused by impurities in reagents, contaminated glassware or substandard water quality. Solutions: Choose superior pure sulfuric acid and boric acid; use ultrapure water throughout the experiment; pre-burn digestion tubes at high temperature to remove nitrogen-containing impurities; regularly replace fresh standard acid and sodium hydroxide solutions.

The standard cleaning includes three steps:

Flush the titration pipeline with dilute acid to neutralize residual alkaline liquid;

Rinse all distillation, condensation and titration pipelines with sufficient pure water;

Drain the lye delivery pipeline to prevent strong alkali from corroding pump tubes.
