LVDV-1H High-Temperature Digital Viscometer

The LVDV-1H High-Temperature Digital Viscometer is designed for materials that become low- to medium-viscosity liquids after heating. It is especially suitable when the sample viscosity drops significantly after melting or heating and a high-viscosity HBDV model would provide an unnecessarily high measuring range.

  • 10–1,000,000 mPa·s
  • RT +10°C to 300°C
  • 0.1–99.9 RPM
  • Accuracy: ±1% F.S.
  • Repeatability: ±0.5% F.S.
  • Sample Volume: 10–20 mL

Features of LVDV-1H Digital Viscometer

  1. The main measurement is solid at room temperature and liquid after high temperature heating, such as asphalt, hot melt adhesive, polyethylene wax and so on.
  2. The measured data can be displayed directly on the LCD screen without secondary calculation. < VSoft Viscometer Data Collection,Analysis and Graphing Software > can also be selected to realize data acquisition and analysis and to compile the viscosity-temperature curve.
  3. High subdivision stepper motor, accurate and stable speed.
  4. LCD liquid crystal with blue backlight function can directly display the viscosity, speed, percentile torque, spindle number and the maximum viscosity and temperature of the selected spindle at the current speed. DV-2 series can also show shear rate and shear stress. Viscosity value shows continuous change, beyond the measurement range there is an alarm sound prompt.
  5. The measuring performance of the instrument has reached the level of the same type of products abroad through computer correction accuracy.
  6. High-temperature furnace uses embedded integral heating, uniform heating and small thermal inertia.

How to Operate High-Temperature Digital Viscometer?

Prepare the Sample

1. Prepare the Sample

Place approximately 10–20 mL of sample into the high-temperature sample container.

Set the Test Temperature

2. Set the Test Temperature

Heat the sample to the required measurement temperature.

Select Spindle and Speed

3. Select Spindle and Speed

Install a suitable spindle and set the rotational speed according to the expected viscosity.

Allow the Reading to Stabilize

4. Allow the Reading to Stabilize

Confirm that temperature and viscosity readings have stabilized before recording the result.

Record or Export Data

5. Record or Export Data

Read the result directly from the display or use optional VSoft software for data collection and viscosity–temperature analysis.

How to Choose Spindle and Speed?

Target Torque 20–90

For reliable viscosity results, select a spindle and rotational speed that keep the displayed torque within the recommended measuring range.

Target Torque: 20–90%

If torque is too low, use a larger spindle or higher speed. If torque is too high, use a smaller spindle or lower speed.

Why Does the Viscosity Reading Keep Changing?

1

Sample Temperature Is Still Changing

Allow the sample to reach a stable test temperature before recording the result.

2

Incorrect Spindle or Speed

Use a spindle and speed combination that keeps the instrument within its effective measuring range.

3

Different Test Conditions

For non-Newtonian samples, changing rotational speed can change the apparent viscosity result.

4

Spindle Installation or Sample Level

Check that the correct spindle is installed properly and immersed to the required level.

FAQ

The measuring range is 10–1,000,000 mPa·s.

The temperature control range is approximately 10°C above ambient temperature to 300°C.

Approximately 10–20 mL is required for measurement.

LVDV-1H measures from 10–1,000,000 mPa·s at 0.1–99.9 RPM, while LVDV-2H starts from 5 mPa·s and provides speeds up to 200 RPM.

No. For heated samples, model selection should be based primarily on the expected viscosity at the actual measurement temperature.

Many materials are non-Newtonian, so their apparent viscosity can change when rotational speed and shear conditions change.

Drawell’s LVDV operating guidance recommends keeping torque within approximately 20–90% and changing the spindle or speed when the instrument is outside the measuring range.

Yes. Optional VSoft software supports data collection, analysis and viscosity–temperature curve generation.
