DW-SOX406 Fat Analyzer

The DW-SOX406 Fat Analyzer provides efficient soxhlet extraction for up to six samples at the same time. It integrates soaking, extraction, heating, condensation, and solvent recovery into one streamlined process.

Uniform metal bath heating, automatic temperature control, and adjustable extraction conditions help ensure consistent results. Solvent recovery reduces reagent consumption and testing costs, making the DW-SOX406 a practical solution for routine laboratory fat analysis.

FAQ

The mainstream method is the Soxhlet extraction method, including fully automatic Soxhlet and crude fat determination. It is suitable for solid and semi-solid samples such as grain and oil, feed, meat, eggs, dairy products, nuts and Chinese medicinal herbs. Liquid oils can be tested directly with simplified pre-treatment.

Low results are usually caused by incomplete extraction, caked samples, insufficient extraction time or solvent volatilization. High results are mainly due to moisture in samples, co-extracted impurities, undried solvent or residual contaminants in crucibles.

Standard reagents are petroleum ether and diethyl ether. Both are flammable and volatile. All operations must be performed in a fume hood; open flames and direct high-temperature baking are prohibited. The equipment shall be grounded for static prevention, and waste liquid shall be sealed and recycled separately.

Key steps include crushing and sieving, drying to remove moisture, and wrapping samples with fat-free filter paper. Excessively large sample particles hinder fat separation, and moisture will co-dissolve with solvents, leading to significant test errors.

Fully automatic equipment can automatically complete soaking, refluxing, rinsing and solvent recovery with stable temperature control, high recovery rate and low solvent consumption. Manual devices require complicated operations, unstable temperature control and long testing time, only suitable for simple testing of a small number of samples.
